We offer quality learning experience for children
We have three rooms within the Nursery; our Baby Room, Toddler Room and Preschool. Please click the room names for further information and photographs showing our rooms and activities.
These rooms are specifically designed and resourced for the children’s age ranges and stages of development.
We support transition between these rooms when children are developmentally ready and your child will have settling sessions supported by a familiar adult whilst they explore their new room. We discuss this process with our families to ensure smooth, happy and confident transitions.
Our children also have access to a Studio room to let their creativity run wild and also a Small Group Room for focused activity time with their key person. Both rooms have been set up with a wide range of resources that are easily accesbile to provide a wealth of experiences and opportunties for children.
Our studio room presents a calm and tranquil space that enables children to relax and let their creative minds evolve. We have a large range of resources, media and materials for children to choose from such as:
Clay,
Paints,
Paint dabbers,
Collage materials,
Charcoal,
Pastels,
Crayons & pencils,
Tissue paper,
Coloured cellophane,
Ink rollers,
Chalk,
Pom Poms,
Sequins,
Glue,
Glitter… and lots more!
There is also an Overhead Projector set up that the children can turn onto project light on to a whiteboard on the wall. They can then explore creating shadows and images with a range of objects. This activity is further enhanced by the ability for children to then use wipeable pens to draw on the whiteboard to add to their projected image.
Children come to this space in small groups to let their creativity flow following adult led activities or child led exploration.
We have a small group room that is adjacent to our pre school area. This space has been filled with resources for small group activities that can be adult led or child initiated.
Story Baskets: There is a wealth of story baskets with added items such as props, puppets and soft toys that the children can use as they listen to, or retell, the stories.
Music and Movement: There is cd player that can be used for the whole group or with headphone for 2 or 3 children to listen to music and movement cds or story cds.
Letters and Sounds activities: There is a wide range of letters and sounds activities set up such as “Whats in the bag?” sound lotto games, matching games, a basket of shredded paper to hide items in, musical instruments and much more!
Personal, Social and Emotional Development Activities: We have baskets of resources to support staff in running small group activities to support children’s emotional literacy. For example we have Emotion bear cards and emotion puppets for children to discuss their emotions. There are listening lotto games for understanding our feelings and behaviour and much more!
Our Baby Room and Toddler Room share expansive outdoor space that encompasses a large natural grass gardens and the old rugby field to go on welly walks and nature adventures spotting squirrels and birds. The children have access to a large wooden pirate ship for imaginative adventures outdoors. They have a mud kitchen and lots of logs to search under to find minibeasts!
Our Preschool have free flow access from their room to a courtyard playground area with astroturf and soft playground flooring. They also have a covered free flow area that creates shade in the summer and shelter in the winter. We encourage outdoor learning in all weathers and ask families to provide clothing to accommodate this. The courtyard is set up with a summer house, obstacle courses, water play, sand play and is a great space for group games and exploration.
All the children also benefit from access to the old Bolitho School playing field for welly walks, football and a range of activities that promote gross motor development. Children can explore further by following a trail to the Secret Garden where Great Scott Adventures run their Twiglets Outdoor Learning sessions with a fire circle and mud kitchen!
We are very fortunate to have a large room upstairs that has created a flexible space to hire for community use.
The room lends itself to facilitate large group training sessions as well as more active groups for children and families such as ballet sessions.
Some of the previous and current uses of the room include hire by:
