These rooms are specifically designed and resourced for the children’s age ranges and stages of development.
We support transition between these rooms when children are developmentally ready and your child will have settling sessions supported by a familiar adult whilst they explore their new room. We discuss this process with our families to ensure smooth, happy and confident transitions.
Sensory rooms are all about offering children rich and varied experiences which will enable children to use their senses. The benefits children relish from accessing sensory experiences are huge; it stimulates their brain leading to vast learning opportunities.
Our sensory room is upstairs and presents a calm and tranquil space that enables children to relax and let their exploratory minds evolve. We have large soft floor mats and a large bean bag for children to lay back on and look up at the patterns from the projector and listen to the calming sounds. There is a bubble tube with fish floating in, a set of colour changing fibre optic lights and a small block light panel that creates patterns. A firm favourite to cuddle is the colour changing star cushion!
Children come to this space in small groups to relax, sing and explore through all of their senses.
Our Baby Room and Toddler Room share expansive free flow outdoor spaces that encompasses two large natural grass gardens and an all weather astro turf space. The children have access to a large wooden pirate ship for imaginative adventures outdoors.
Our Early 3’s and Preschool share a separate large playground area, including a growing garden, a hard surface for trike riding and grassy areas with balance beams, giant musical instruments, a sand pit and a wooden train to promote creative and imaginative play. They also have a covered free flow area that creates shade in the summer and shelter in the winter. We encourage outdoor learning in all weathers and ask families to provide clothing to accommodate this.
We also benefit from access to the old Bolitho School playing field for welly walks, football and a range of activities that promote gross motor development. Children can explore further by following a trail to the Secret Garden where Great Scott Adventures run their Twiglets Outdoor Learning sessions with a fire circle and mud kitchen!
We are very fortunate to have a large room upstairs that has created a flexible space to hire for community use.
The room lends itself to facilitate large group training sessions as well as more active groups for children and families such as ballet sessions.
